It takes an enthusiastic and dedicated team to make the magic of camp possible each summer. There are a variety of positions at Wayne, all of which are crucial to the success of each camp season. Many jobs require constant interaction with our campers, while others are more behind the scenes. Regardless of the job description, we appreciate the hard work that everyone brings to the team.
Counselor Specialists and General Counselors
Counselors become role models and leaders for the boys in their bunk. In addition to bunk responsibilities, counselors have opportunities to teach and coach at activities where they share their experience and expertise with our campers. By creating an environment where our campers love to learn and have fun, counselors are a vital part of our daily program.
Group Leaders
Every age group at camp has a Group Leader. Group Leaders must have a great deal of camp experience and/or experience leading children and staff. The Group Leader supervises the campers and staff in his/her group and meets regularly with the head counselors and directors. Group Leaders are responsible for moving their group from activity to activity during the day and for overseeing the group’s evening activities.
Support Staff
Our support staff team is responsible for a number of key behind the scenes jobs to keep our program moving during the day. Jobs include food preparation, food service, laundry, cleaning, office support, and maintenance.
Health Center Staff
The health and safety of each and every person at camp is our number one priority. Our Heather Center is staffed by three Registered Nurses and one physician. In addition to dispensing medication, our nurses treat campers and staff 24 hours a day and are on-call for all health-related issues.
